The House read a second time thb Central Reserve Bank Bill. In the course of a speech the Treasurer (Mi Theodore) claimed the measure was necessary for the stabilisation.- of Australian finance, and would not lead to any revolutionary change in the Commonwealth Bank. Mr Theodore stated the total indebtedness of thD Commonwealth and States amounted to £1,104,028,062 sterling.'
A PROTEST,
CANBERRA, May 2
The adjournment of both Houses will be moved to-day to protest against the announcement by the Federal Minister of Works that in order to obtain preference, returned soldiers must now be unionists.
