CHINESE TROUBLE
IN SEARCH OF BANDITS

A large force of Government troops have been despatched to search for the bandit horde reported to have sacked the city in the Northern Kiaugsu Province. Detachments are also leaving for Sientaofen, near Hankow, where Reverends Laffan and Lineham (priests), were captured, and are reported to have been murdered during a Communist raid. The towns of Keinlin and Szeching (the latter scarcely 100 miles from Shanghai) were also attacked,» looted and burned by Reds making the fourth large scale outrage in four days Fugitives from each looted town report thousands of slain.
Settlement police to-day raided and closed twelve Communist offices and arrested thirty agitators.
