ROTORUA, April 28
The Governor-Genera! s parly arrived at Ewtorua at noon and were received at the platform by the Mavor. Air Thomas Jackson, Councillors, and Mr \ . Ward and Air Jelirey on behalf of Sir Joseph Ward. J hoy were driven to the Grand Hotel, in the afternoon there was a civic reception in the Bath Buildings, and Mayor .Taekifcm wlelcomed Their Excellencies.
In replv 11 is Excellency thanked them for the cordial welcome. He referred to the loyalty ol the Ainu a Tribe, and alluded to Rotorua as the most celebrated spa in the southern hemisphere and enumerated its attractions of scenery, climate. sports, therapeutic qualtities and waters. He spoke of the laiid experiments in the district and of • afforestation. It was a day of slogans, and he gave out to his hearers: “Preserve from deterioration and contamination your beautiful countryside on the one hand, and the youth of the country on the other.” 'The former was the latter s grandest heritage. He advocated and stressed coiVimcrcial integrity. Concluding, Lord Bledisloe said, lie was pleased to be Governor-General of Now Zealand, and would be still prouder if he could lend ‘a useful hand in helping to stabilise rural prosperity, and, through it, the prosperity of classes in town and country. His Excellency afterwards visited the Prime Minister.
A social evening is being given tonight at the Dixieland Cabaret.
