The increasing demand all over New Zealand for toasted tobacco shows that smokers are becoming alive to the merits of the article. Their preference is justified. Whatever harmfulness lies in the weed is entirely due to excess of nicotine in it, and toasting overcomes this defect, rendering it, whether for pipe or cigarette, perfectly harmless—a point of vital importance when it is remembered that nicotine is one of the deadliest poisons known and that the constant use of tobacco heavily charged with it is positively dangerous. Practically all the American brands are poisonous with nicotine. Our fine Tsew Zealand brands, on the other hand are all but free from it. That is because they are toasted —as no other tobaccos are. You can smoke the New Zealand from the Ist January to the 31st December with absolute safety, ihere are four brands of these beautiliu tobaccos—[Overhead Gold, Cut Plug, Cavendish and Navy Cut. They are not only harmless but unrivalled loi flavour and fragrance. But look out for imitations!
