The authorities of the Auckland Museum are apparently victims of a deception. They possess an etching of a house at Leigh-on-Sea, reputedly occupied by Capt. Cook. Ir J he original certainly stands in High Street of the old town, near the waterfront, but the only Cook who ever occupied it was a doctor, whose spiritualistic tendencies scared the fisher folk of me old days.
