LATE LOCALS.
A Maori War veteran, Mr Alex G. Hill, passed aAvay at Westport on Anzne Day night.. He was a native of Glasgow and 87 years ol age. lie leaves tivo daughters, Miss Jessie Hill and Mrs M. A. Rugby Pratt, of St. Albans, and one son, Air L. Hill, of Wellington.
The death took place this morning at his residence South Spit, of -R' Thomas Spoor, after an illness extending over a month. Deceased was born at South Shields, England, and was , vuars of age. He has been a resident of South Spit over a very long period of years, and followed mining pursuits in Ins earlier days, being a well-known figure along Mahinapua Creek. Deceased leaves a widow and Inmily. of four daughters (Mrs Taigel of Chr.strhurch, and Misses Alice, Melba and Isabel Spoor of South Spit) and three sons (Thomas, and Robert of South Spit, and Herbert of Wellington). Main' old friends will regret the passing of another of the old band of pioneers, and extend their sympathy to the bereaved family.
