LARGE DONATIONS
FROM SAVINGS BANK
AUCKLAND, April 24
Donations totalling £6250 in aid of institutions which are giving valuable service to the community were announced at the annual meeting of the Trustees of the Auckland Savings Bank. The gifts are subject to the approval of the Governor-General-in Council. The New Zealand Obstetrical endowment appeal is to be assisted to the extent of £MOO. A similar sum is to he donated to the Auckland Branch of the Plunket Society for the purpose of paying off the mortgage on its Headquarters building. A gift of £I(XX) is to he made to the A tick-' land Branch of St. John Ambulance Association. Auckland Hospital Board is to receive £750 for the’ creation of an endowment fund towards the purchase of radium for use in Auckland. The Sailors’ Home endowment fund is to receive £SOO. The donations made by the Bank since the inauguration of tne practice in 1906 amount to the magj lificient total of £llB,lOO, and, many deserving institutions and causes have benefited particularly from 1914, s'nee when donations with one or two exceptions have been made annually.
