CAMPAIGN GROWS INTERESTING.

MINISTERS TAKING PLATFORM.

AUCKLAND, April 21

With polling day barely a fortnight away, interest ,is quickening in the Parnell by-election, i campaign. After the Easter respite, all three candidates; will resume their routed of public meetings to-morrow evening. Air W. P. Eiiclean (Reform) will speak at the Public Works (tamp at Purewa, Air W. A. Donald (United) will he at St. Helices, and Mr T. Rloodworth (Labour) will meet the electors at Remiiera.

With equal zest every candidate is; claiming that PArtiell’s verdict will, show no trend of Dominion political thought, in view-of'the unusual state of Parties in the House. The importance attached to the contest is reflected in announcements that all three) candidates wjll be suported on the platform by .members of Parliament. TheMinister for Labour, the Hon. W. A. Veitch. spent the”greater part of last week in the electorate, and the Hon. G. W. Forbes, Deputy-Leader of the Government, wil in Auckland on Wednesday to'speak in support eff Air Donald. Effprtß are also being made to secure further Ministerial reinforcements as the campaign draws to a close. It is anticipated that a prominent Reform member of Parliament will also figure actively in the cam-r-aisrn during the last week or so. TheLoader of the Opposition, the R.t. Hon. J. G. Coates, is .at present in North Auckland, and it is considered probable that he will address the Parnell electors shortly before polling day on May "th. As soon as he is free from the annual conference of the New Zealand Labour Party in Wellington, Mir H. E. Holland; Leader of the Labour Party, proposes to come to Auckland. Mr P. Fraser. Labour member for Wellington Central, ; ;..and Air W., Nash, Labour member for Hutt .are'-,also announced to sneak in support of. Mr Rloodworth toward the close-,of the contest. , , t . V.
