FIRE AT BOWSER

TWO MEN SLIGHTLY HURT.

PALMERSTON N., April 20.

On ..-.Saturday night, through petrol igniting from a naked light, an out--break of fire oeurred at the Petrol Service Company’s bowser station at the corner of Rarigitikej and Queen ; vStreets. Allan Bull over-estimated tlie amount of petrol required for, a motorcycle and it overflowed on to the hot ringing. The., spirit vaporised and ignited from the acetylene headlight. The. .flames , ran up the hose to five gallons of spirit in the bowser and then to the roof. The clothes of the attendant, Net.ten, caught fire, and his leg was slightly burned, while Bull had his hand burned.

The Fire Brigade used chemical extinguishers and Avater, quelling the flames quickly, although four bowseis were damaged or scorched. Tlie building, which was insured, was slightly burnt, The motor-cycle was badly damaged. .
