FURTHER CONDEMNATION
AUCKLAND, April 17
A defence of his statement that the Reform Party’s stonewalling tactics last session had the effect of breaking down the health of Sir Joseph Ward was made by the Hon W. A. Veitch yesterday. “I do not wish it to be thought that I attempted to deceive the audience at Mr W. A. Donald’s meeting,” said Mr Veitch. “The. fact of the matter was that while the stonewall on the Land :and: Income Tax Bill was in progress Sir ill m bed ;in ■ His' apartments- J in Parliament House' He wits' kept; advised of what was going on and Mr Forbes made statements oii his belialf at different stages. 'i.- He was as: much concerned about the fate of the Bill as if lie had been in the chamber. “I know also that lie was greatly worried Joy -the opposition to his Trans* port Bill. I still maintain that the Reform Party’s tactics had the effect I stated.”
