MOTOR ACCIDENT

CAR PLUNGES OVER, BANK

BLENHEIM, April 21

A new Sedan car, driven by J. Smart of Rai Valley, plunged from the Malmkipawa Hill road yesterday morning at a spot a short distance from the foot of the hill on the Havelock side. It rolled over several times down the steep slope a distance of forty yards,

,e live occupants all being more or

less injured. Mr and Mrs J. Smart, and Nurse Hughes (wlm, it is believed comes from Palmerston North) are in hospital. Airs Smart lias a broken left leg, fractured clavicle and two broken ribs. Her condition is not serious. Mr Smart lias broken ribs and injuries to the shoulder and arm. Nurse Hughes received cuts on the head and extensive bruises.

Two daughters of the driver sustained abrasions and cuts, but were discharged after hospital treatment. 'Phe car was badly wrecked. The cause of the accident was that the wheel got in a rut and the driver being unable to straighten up the emit going over the edge of the road at the bend.
