At the stud cattle sales at the Royal Show there was excellent competition. The highest price was for an Aberdeen -Angus bull, 610 guineas. Hereford/ ibutls sold from fifty to three hundred guineas, The top price for Guernseys was 125 guineas. There was a good demand for dairy cattle of quality. Wood chopping contests at the Show began with an underhand chop, twelve inch logs: C. McCarthy 1, C. Mclntosh 2.' 'Time 41 2-5 seconds. SYDNEY, April 18.

Wood chopping, standing out, fourteen inch ’ logs, six heats have been decided. The second whereof, was won by a New Zealander, Walter Green. His time was fifty seconds, easily the best. Further heats tomorrow.
A spectacular high jumping for horses wherein competitors occupied three hours, was eventually won by A. L'. Haynes’ “Disputed Plains,” which jumped 7 feet inches.
The attendance to-day was about seventy thousand. There was beautiful weather.

CAIRO, April 18
The Prince of Wales landed safely, the accompanying planes alighting at regular intervals.
