A FAKE ALLEGED.

NEW YORK, April 16
A message from Oakland, California, reports that theZ 1 State Boxing Commission, which withheld Camera’: ten thousand dollars purse, has begun an investigation into reports that the Italian’s ' fight with the negro, Leon Chevalier, on April 14,• was “faked.” The negro, who weighed 2161b5, and made an impressive showing for sir. rounds, dropped for a count of nine. He then arose and one of his seconds tossed in the towel, whereupon Cnr nera was awarded a technical knockout, which action is illegal in California unless the chief second halts the fight. Chevalier’s chief second stated he was so surprised that he failed to protest to the referee, He asserted the fight could have been stopped Chevalier’s wife allegedly persuaded the negro to admit that he had been ap preached with the promise that the purse ‘.‘would be more than nine hum derd dollars” if he consented to follow questionable arrangements.
