The Rev. T. N. Cuttle of the Presbyterian Church, Greymouth, has accepted a call to the Somerville Church, at Auckland, and will leave Greymouth *on Tuesday, April 29th. Air Cuttle’s last service at St. John’s ViII take place on Sunday, April 27, and lie will be inducted at Auckland on Thursday, Alay 1.
The competition cup presented by Airs and Miss Brown to the Kokatabi Gun Club for annual competition by members in memory of the lat-e Air Isaac Brown, a former prominent member lias been on view for some time past in Brown’s ’Cycle AA 7 orks window, Revell Street. The Gup, Hhieh is a handsome silver trophy, is to be shot for annually, and a i nnia.'tu.re silver cup will be presented to each year’s winner. The first competition for the trophy takes place on Good Friday afternoon at Kokatabi, and should attract a good entry.
Arrangements are well forward for the farewell social and presentation to Mr and Airs Seddon this night week at the Soldiers’ Hall The ladies’ committee are attending to their special department which will be pleasingly conducted. The Black Hand Orchestra will supply the music and the floor is to have special attention. All these arrangements will cater well for the comfort of patrons. Aleanwhile donations are- mounting up for the presentation which is to take the form of a- handsome piece of silverware. The function will be attended by several notabilities and there will be a large gathering of friends of the Seddon family.

The Kanieri Cricket Club are holding a grand ball in the Public Hall, Ivan ion, on "Easter Monday plight, when a holiday attendance is expected. Complete arrangements are being made for the enjoyment of patrons.
On Good Friday there will he a pairs progressive tournament game on the local bowling green, play commencing at 9.30 o’clock sharp, with two games ir the morning and two in the afternoon. All desiring to take part should attend promptly at the stated hour.
A rink from the Hokitika Bowling Club is leaving to-morrow evening tw take part in the Nelson Easter bowling tourney, which commences on Good Friday morning. The team consists of Messrs J. Conning, T. W. Bruce, W. Wilson and D. Stevenson.

Two young men, named Gardiner and Bailey, had a narrow escape from being electrocuted at the Empire Bridge, Christchurch on Sunday. It appears that they were stinking a well ana Bailey got.on the roof of the house to adjust the pipe. However, it came in contact with a 14,000 volt powerline. Bailey was badly burned in the right side, both hands, and very badly in both feet. Gardiner suffered mostly from shock.
At a meeting of the committee of the Kokatahi-Koiterangi Winter Show, it was resolved that the annual show be abandoned 'for this year. This decision was come to for several reasons, thg principal one being that owing to the past unfavorable season the exhibits would not be as numerous or of the quality of past years, while several of the principals would not be able to take part. It was therefore decided to allow the show to fall through for this year.
Some concern was felt at Stillwater on Sunday night for two residents, Charles Cook and Matthew Cochrane, ' who climbed to Bald Hill, in the Paparoa Range, became lost on the return journey and were obliged /to spend the night in the bush. When they had not returned by 7.45 in the evening, a search party was organised, and with lanterns made the ascent to the top of the hill, where evidence was found of the missing men having reached the summit. They did not succeed in finding the men and returned to Stillwater late. The missing men turned up yesterday morning, having had to spend the night in the hush.

There is excitement and elation just now among'the Dalmations who are pioneering the sardine fishing indusry of the Hauvaki Gulf over an occurrence which they describe as rare in their calling—the taking in the nets of what is known in their own country as a “mother sardine,” which is about double the size of the largest in the ordinary, catch, and yet hears all the characteristic marks of the species states the “Now -Zealand Herald”). They state that in the Adriatic fisheries there is seldom more than one “mother sardine” caught in the course of a year, and when it is captured it is considered by their countrymen to he the harbinger of q very successful season—hence their present rejoicings. Mr F. S. Petrie, head of the expedition purposes presenting his prize to the Auckland Museum as a curiosity.
