SIR T. SIDEY’S PROPOSALS

WELLINGTON, April 13,

The Attorney-General (Hon. ■ Sir Thomas Sidey), in .an interview, discussed further ■ details of his proposal that the long summer- vacation:.should be held in February, and a portion of March, instead of durng December and January as at present. The Minister, who made it clear that he was expressing only his own personal views, referred also to the bearing on the question of the problem of stabilising Easter, and of the possible extension of daylight saving for another month annually. He suggested the fallowing primary schools’ terms for the discussion by. School Committees,this month. ' First.term: March 2nd to June 12th (14 weeks)second term, June 29th to September 25th. (thirteen weeks); third ferm, October 12th. to January 22nd (ffteen weeks).

A fixed Easter, such as he had in view, would come in about the sth. week of the first term. He thought that an hour of daylight saving might be extended to the third week in April. .
