POLICE RAID

ON GAMBLING SCHOOL.

The ingenuity of the police resulted in the discovery of a large gambling school at Redforn, An aeroplane was used to direct the detectives to a place in the scrub, where a large- number of men were playing two up in a cleverly camouflaged ring. The school was barricaded with wire entanglements, in which branches of scrubs were twined up. On the approach of the police .scouts posted round the ground began to wave white cloths and then a smoke screen was sent up and the nmn were soon fleeing in all directions. Planes flying low, joined in the chase. Eight men were arrested. Many articles of clothing and twp bicycles were left behind by the decamping players.
