AN IRISH SCENE

EGYPTIAN CONFERENCE. LONDON, April 10

From the fact- that there have been two long sessions of Anglo-Egyptian conference to-day. it may he taken for granted that the thorniest patches have been reached. Many people are of the opinion that Mr Henderson made a (false step in announcing the terms of the draft treaty, before the Wafdists had shown their hands, hut it is also believed tile Egyptians now face the real meaning of the extreme limit, and are. resorting to quibbles mainly relating to Suez Canal, concerning which Australia and New Zealand observers at the conference are showing anxiety. They insist that the Canal as a vital link in the Empire chain of communications must be protected by Britain alone. ~
