CRICKET
MISTER'S' STATUS
WELLINGTON, April
.'Alice the appointment of C. S. Dempster as official coach to the Wellington Cricket Association, there has been some discussion as to whether this player will now be available for inclusion in the New Zealand team to go to England next year. The Wellington Cricket Association’s Management Committee is, of course, eager to see Dempster add to his record as a Dominion representative, and in making the appointment it had no intenLion of placing anything in the way of Dempster still playing for New Zealand. The fact that he has become a professional cricketer should not affect his position as a representative player, so long as lie is given leave by the local Association. The New Zealand Cricket Council’s opinion on the matter has been sought, and the controlling body has advised that the appointment will in no way operate as a bar, or affect Dempster’s qualifications for membership of the team for England.
