INTERESTING BYE-ELECTION

LONDON, April 8
A very interesting bye-election v ill take place shortly in West Fulham, one of London’s constituences. Dr. Spero, a Labourite, won this seat at last General Election from the Conservatives, who had held it for many years. He is now resigning owing to ill-health.
A new Labour candidate is forthcoming in Mr Banfield, a member of the local Borough Council, who is.very popular amongst the working class of the constituency.
At the General Election the figures were:—Dr. Spero (Labour), 16,100; Sir Cyril Cobb (Conservative), 13,079; Mr Gale (Liberal), 5,920. LONDON, April 8.
The Army Annual Bill was read the third time in the House of Commons. The , House agreed to an amendment rectifying the adverse vote on Mr Courthorpe’s amendment. In 'the House of Commons, Mr Gireamvood, in moving the second reading of the Government’s Housing Bill, .said the Bill introduced a now method of clearing shim areas, simplified tho purchase of homes, and enabled local, authorities to develop a coherent housing policy. A crowded House applauded the maiden speeches of Miss Megan Lloyd George and Mr Malcolm MacDonald.
The debate was adjourned. In the House of Commons the foreign Secretary, Mr Henderson, in answer to a question, said he could not state definitely when he would be in a position to make a statement on the Anglo-Egyptian negotiations. Good progress had already been made in the discussion of the proposals.
