Premier Bavin gave the Legislative Assembly an opportunity of discussing the economic situation to-day. He launched proposals for a return to forty-eight hours in all industries, a tax on all wages, providing a fund for unemployeds, and reduction of salaries of public servants. Air. Bang (Labour Leader) challenged the Government to go to the country upon these issues at once. The debate was acrimonious.

A HOLD-UP
OF THEATRE CASHIER

A second hold-up occurred in the city last night. With a revolver levelled at her head Afiss Birtles, a cashier at a theatre, was forced to stand against a wall while a man searched
vuitlessly for the night’s takings. A few minutes previously, A Ess Birtles had locked away £2OO. After ransacking the drawers the robber dashed from the theatre and was soon lost in the crowd.
