A VKll V SUCCESSFUL GATHERING

'.Perfect *wunther prevailed on Saturday afternoon for the Three Alile Sports, and there was a very large and interested attendance present. There were capital entries in all events, and competition was keen, the events being well contested. Chief interest centred in the underhand chop, in which X. ('. dames finished in first place, with AY. .Meroweather second and C. Xeame third. The final resulted in a very cle.-e go, and tliere was little between the placed men at the finish.. The eyrie events drew good fields, and some good racing was witnessed. The finishing post, however, was too narrow, as the result of ears being narked alongside the road. Ais a result of this in the five mile handicap H. Wilson ran into one of the officials and came down, another competitor, K. Best ran over Wils n and then turned a complete somersault, with the result that hath men were rendered unconscious ■for a short space of time. The result ; were .as follows:
