WELLINGTON, April 4
"Wednesday, May 7th has been fixed by the Government as the dnto for the Parnell by-election. Finality on tiltmatter was reached by Cabinet to-day, and an announcement setting out the above decision will be made to-morrow by the Minister in Charge of the Electoral Department (Hon. W. A. Veitcli.)
AUCKLAND, April 4.
The United Party’s candidate for the Parnell liye-elbction is to be Mr W. A. Donald. f He is a brother of Hon. Mr Donald, Minister of Industries and Commerce. •
AUCKLAND, April 4. Air W. A. Donald, the brother of Hon. J. B. Donald, was chosen as the official Government candidate to contest Parnell live-election, at a meeting of the United Party representatives this afternoon. As a young man Mr Donald went. to England, and he was educated at Oxford University. He studied law, and later practised in London, being a Barrister of the Inner Temple. He was London Director of the firm of A. B. Donald when the war broke out, and he joined the King Edward Horse and later the Inniskillin Dragoons, and was three and a half years on active service Since returning to New Zealand. Air Donald has been an active member of the Auckland Golf Club and supporter of the Ruphv Uniop football.
