ACTRESS DISAPPEARS
AFTER BIG WINNINGS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) SAN REMO, March 28. The disappearance of the London actress, Betty Fairfax, from Nice, after winning four thousand pounds at 'the Casino, developed into an intriguing chase round Southern Europe. It was at first, thought that she had been the victim of foul play as she was carrying her winnings. She was recognised at the San Retno Casino, where she was again gambling heavily. The Casino authorities confirm this, and they say she was winning between six and seven hundred pounds. She again disappeared. and was traced to Bordighera, whereupon she once more disappeared. The police believe that she has gone to London. Her husband, who lias been pursuing will o’ the wisp rumours, is now missing, Tlicre is a strong theory that Betty has developed the gambling fever, and is following up a mysterious gambler whose play she copied at the Casino when she had her first big win.
