ROW OVER £30,000 REMIT,

WELLINGTON, March 26. The'circumstances leading up to the withdrawal of Vice-Regal patronage iroin the New Zealand Branch of the British Red Cross Society were under review at the annual meeting of the Society to-day, when ;.a lengthy -statement of the Society’s position was made by Air J. A. Flesher, of Christchurch. The incident occurred, following on a difference between the Order of St. John and tlie Red Cross Society over the use of a grant ot £30,000 from England. Following a discussion, the following resolution, submitted from the Executive, was carried: “That the New Zealand Branch of the British Red Cross Society and Order of St. John r, annot agree to full acceptance of the resolution passed by the conference between the representatives of the Society and the Order presided over bv Mr A. Gray, K.C 1 ., hut will support the appointment of a joint committee to administer the fund of £30,000 remitted by the Joint Finance Committee of the British Red Cross Society and the Order of St. John in England, and subject to the terms of tlie trust imnosec] ->t the time this money was handed over to this Society.”
