HOKITIKA HARBOR BOARD

TUESDAY, MARCH 25th. The Board met at 4.30 p.m. Present: Messrs 51. H. Houston (Chairman), E. W. Heenan, W. E. Richards, D. Stuart and Dr Teichelmann. The minutes were confirmed and outward correspondence approved. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE.

From Statistician, Wellington, acknowledging statistics.—Received. From Valuation Department, Wellington, stating account objected to had been sent in error.—Received. From Ikamatua Aero Club, suggesting a conference of local bodies at Greymouth.—-Received. The -Chairman moved that Dr Teichelmann represent tlie Board. Seconded by Air fleenan and carried. From Bank of New Zealand notifying interest on overdraft had been raised to 7 per cent.—Received.

From Minister of Internal Affairs notifying conference at Greymouth on 10th. April in reference to Town Planing Act.—Received. The Chairman to represent the Board. From Harbors Association, Wellington, forwarding reports on various subjects.—Received. From J. R. Simpson, asking for remission of rent on Ivcnzine store that is not at present being used.—Received. The rent was fixed at £1 for ...is year, and then the lease to be ■ ancelled. From various, business circulars.— . .eceived.

-From Signalman, reporting the Chanel was good, running to the northwest, The depth on the bar for the -past 3 weeks, was 'LI .-.tq 13 eived.

An application to lease vacant timber stacking areas along the river front by Gunnersen’s Ltd. was granted on the usual terms for twelve months, the secretary and Air Heenan j arrange tlie sites. The areas will be used for stacking white pine.

Accounts amounting to £336 were passed for payment.

AIOTION OF SYMPATHY.

The Chairman referred to the recent death of Hon IT. L. Alicliel, a former Chairman and member of the Board. He moved that the Board place on record its deep sense of the loss" sustained, and appreciation of past services, and convey same by letter to Airs Michel and Family. The motion was earr'ed, members standing in silence. The Board rose at 5.15 p.m.
