N.S.W. COAL TROUBLE

NEWCASTLE MINES

(Austru*lian Press Association)

SYDNEY, March 21

There is considerable activity at some of the Northern Collieries,- and notably at Richmond Main, where Deputies pumpers, and railway men have commenced work. Deputies and all the engine men have offered for work at Pelawmain collieries. The pit ponies have been brought to the Aberdale extended mine, and the machinery there is being given a try out. The Bellbird Colliery is another where there are opening preparations. The Newcastle Branch of the Seamen’s Union declare they will not handle Rot.hbury coal. This is interpreted to mean that the seamen on the inter-State ships will not handle any coal produced at the Associated Coalowners’ pits when they recommence operations.
