KAYE DON’S TRIALS
WITH “SILVER BULLET.”
[United Press Association--By Electric ! Telegraph—Copyrght.]
(Received this day at 8 a.m.) NEW YORK, March 15
At Daytona Beach, Kaye Don drove his “Silver Bullet” for the first time under, its own power. While two runs over a nine miles course were not timed, it is understood he had a tachometer which indicated a speed of 198 miles per hour was attained. Although the car held to its course fairly well, it bumped along over several rough spots and as Don passed the grandstand he was bouncing in the cockpit, but appeared to be having little difficulty in keeping the machine under control, Upon arrival at the south end of the course Don brought the car to a stop for a thorough inspection before making the north run.
Doctor Eckenstin, it is understood, examined the driver for blood pressure and heart action after the drive. Don intends to make a further trial on Monday if the beach conditions are favourable.
