THE UNITED PARTY

STATEMENT BY DOAI.IN.LON EXECUTIVE.

INCREASING ACTIVITIES.

CONFIDENCE IN GOVERNMENT

The .following statement has ’been issued by the Dominion executive ot the New Zealand United Political Organisation:— The statements regarding the United Political Organisation made by A. E. Davy, ex-chairman (whose engagement was recently terminated by the Dominion executive of that body) appearing in various papers, are not.in accordance with facts which are as follows:

(1) The Dominion executive of the organisation has never ceased to function; on the contrary, its activities have increased.

(2) Since Mr Davy’s services were dispensed with the executive has met frequently, consulting and working in complete harmony, with members of the. Cabinet, with whom relations are now of the most cordial nature.

(3) All members of the Dominion executive have attended its meetings, and the business of the organisation is being carried out 'expeditiously and satisfactorily. (4) Air Davy’s place has been temporarily filled by a staunch and loyal member of the executive, Air James AV. Henderspn, of Wellington, who is acting as ohqiniian without remuneration, while -jvork in connection with secretarial; and organising duties, is also being carried out satisfactorily by Mr James A, Slnujd, well-known journalist, formerly chief sub-editor, “New Zealand Times,”

(0) The headquarters office is open daily, officers are in regular attendance, and the work of the organisation is proceeding as usual. Alembers of the executive are in close contact with Ministers almost daily, and the relations between the United Political Organisation and the Cabinet are new much more cordial and satisfactory than they hitherto have been.

From many branches of the organisation messages have been received condemning the totally unwarranted and uncalled for attacks made by Air Davy on the Prime Minister, and commending the executive for its action in ridding the organisation of one who was seriously jeopardising its success and prejudicing it in the eyes of members of the United organisation and the general public; such branches also pledging unswerving support to Sir Joseph Ward as Leader of the Party, and congratulating the Government for having in the face of the determined opposition and stonewalling of last Jsession, placed on the Statute Book important /and progressive legislation. There is ample evidence available to prove that the action of the executive in deposing Air Davy from the position of chairman, and determining his engagement with the organisation, has restored confidence m the executive and has met with general approval throughout the whole of the Dominion,

With Mr Davy’s political views as expressed in various papers, the executive has no concern,
