HAGEN AND KIRKWOOD

MELBOURNE, March 14
When Hagen and Kirkwood arrived at Melbourne from: Sydney to-day a large gathering of; amateur and professional golfers gave them a fine reception. Hagen was presented with a large fire extinguisher in case his matches again should explode. Kirkwood received a large vaccination certificate as a memento of his quarantine experiences.
viioceived this day at 8 n.m.) *M.ELLTURNB, March 15. Hagen and played an exhibition game* match, wherein ' stymies were'; excluded. Hagen, despite an injured thumb, was magnificent, especially from tie to green. He went round in 74 but miscalculated distance, owing to unfamiliarity with the course.
Kirkwood was much l>elow the form whereof he: was capable. He was beaten.by three strokes. --t.
