An aeroplane which failed to come out of a nosespin, crashed a thousand feet near Essendon. The two occupants, Fred Ward, aged 23, and Ray Neville, aged 21, air mechanics, were killed and the machine wrecked.

INTER-CLUB RACE

AUCKLAND, March 13

All aero clubs, in New Zealand will be interested in the announcement that the “New Zealand Herald” newspaper is to donate a fifty guinea trophy tor an inter-club race. With this trophy is a cash prize of fifty pounds, which will he continued for at least three years. The trophy will he competed for annually, commencing at Auckland, on April 12th, and thereafter the race will be held at the holder’s aerodrome.

Only clubs eligible for Government subsidy may compete. No instructors or professional pilots will be eligible, and each club shall be represented by one aeroplane and one pilot. Tlie trophy will be kept on the winning club’s premises, and the prize-money shall go into the winning club’s count. The name of the pilot and the club will be inscribed on the cup.
