HIDEOUS MURDER
A GERMAN’S CRIME

PARIS, March 12
A hideous crime has been unearthed at Saint Avald, near Metz, as the result of a ten-year-old son’s statement, who saw his father, a German miner, named Schenk, murder bis .mistress with a spade; and, in this boy’s presence, dismember the body, burying the bead at the front door. He then cast the weighted limbs into a pond, and buried the trunk beneath the bedroom floor. ,
Schenk went to Germany, from where he wrote to the victim’s sister, saying that his mistress was not well, and .was not returning to St. Avald* The son told the story of the murder to the police, who have recovered portions of the body. Schenk has been arrested.
