SYDNEY, .March 13. The Crown Law authorities have decided to abandon the trial of the railwaynien, Gollan .and Hindniarsh, in connection with the Warrinio railway smash, cabled on February 14th. The. charge of manslaughter has been withdrawn.

The Assistant Government Geologist, reporting on the Roma oilfield development, says that there i.s a flow of water and ordorous inflammable gas. Both were sampled. Me observed only a slight iridescence, due to oil samples, which consisted of wafer and heavv dark brown oil.
GOLD GOING TO LONDON

It is announced that a million pounds worth of gold was shipped by the liner Orford for London yesterday. This is to assist in balancing Australian accounts. »
TAXATJ ON PROPOSALS
CANBERRA, .March 14
Several alterations in the assessmen't of land taxation is proposed by a Bill introduced in the House of Representatives. One effect will be to render a golf course liable to land taxation, Prevously sports grounds, 'but no racecourses, had been exempt.
