OTAGO MOTOR CLUB

EFFECTIVE PATROL SERVICE

DUNEDIN, March 12

There are 2941 members now on the roll of the Otago Motor Club. Last night ninety-six new members were elected. Car-owners comprise 2354 of the total. The membership is being steadily built up by the club’s provision of a patrol service and the reports of the patrolmen record the following work clone during the past month:— Mileage run, 13,077; members enrolled. 173; members assisted, 109; nonmem tiers assisted. 140. It remarkable that at least half of the non-members helped by the patrol even then refused to become members.

In a letter to the club praising its patrol system, Mr P. R. Harman, secretary of the South Island Motor Union, wrote: “Any motorist who is made aware of what your club is donig in his interests could not refuse his support if lie lias a conscience.”
