GANDHI STARTS MARCH
SOME MINOR DISTURBANCES

Gandhi travelled only six miles on his campaign yesterday, reaching the village of Asli, where he addressed a large meeting and rebuked the villagers for buying foreign clothing. He resumed the march in the morning. Ugly clashes between students, incited by agitators and police occurred at Calcutta and Bombay. At the latter place a student was arrested for disorderly behaviour. Kis comrades attacked the police escort. Several students were injured and hospitalled. Earlier in the day students gathered outside the Corporation buildings, jeered at and attempted to tear down Onion Jacks, which were part of the decorations for a dinner by the Corporation President to . Governor Sykes. Nationalist members of the Corpora*.on boycotted the function. In Calcutta, students left the schools and demonstrated, and later besieged the train depots, but were dispersed by the police. Nationalist demonstrators w r ere held at several centres where resolutions were passed pledging support for Gandhi.
SEDITION CHARGE
DELHI, March 13
J. M. Sen Jupta, mayor of Calcutta and leader of the Congress Party in Bengal was arrested on a warrant issued hv the District Magistrate in Rangoon on a charge of .sedition, as a sequel to a speech made at Rangoon recently. He will- he removed to Rangoon to-morrow.
