PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY

DUNEDIN, March 12,
At the Presbyterian Assembly this morning an overture was presented by the flawkes Bay Presbytery requesting tuat at the ordination ot elders, subscription to the Westminister Confession of Faith be not required, It was agreed to remit the question to Presbyteries for consideration and report a.i the next Assembly. • The Standing Committee for the year was appointed with the following changes: The Budget Committee is located at Christchurch; the Home .Mission Committee is shifted from Auckland to Wellington; the Social Service Committee is removed from Wellington to Auckland; the Media,slum Fund for Indigent Gentlewomen is to be administered by a committee located in Wellington. A discusson took place on the question of Church Fnion which came up oy an overture from Wellington Presbytery and resulted in Wellington Presbytery being appointed to the Committee on Church Union to ascertain the mind of the Church and report to next Assembly; and further that it he reommended to Youth, Home and Theological Committees to a.pproach the corresponding committees in sister clmrches with a ; view to co-operation.
