Extremists in many centres in India are following Gandhi's lead organising a campaign of civil disobedience. Important Siki social organisations in the Punjab placed five thousand volunteers at Gandhi’s disposal. Gandhi decided to leave the settlement near Ahmadabnd on Wed-

Gandhi has completed arrangements for starting the disobedience campaign to-morrow. There are at present rumours that he will 'be arrested before starting his tour, but so far the authorities have taken no action beyond posting a. few constables along the route which the campaigners will follow.

Gandhi told a vast gathering at Sabarmati tlmt he could secure independence for India- immediately, if seven hundred thousand volunteers were available.

A MOB ATTACK

A mob of five thousand jute strikers, following the arrest of a millhand, stoned the police station at Titagarh and attempted 'to release the prisoner. The station was badly

damaged, but was gallantly defended by two Indian inspectors and a dozen constables, who charged the crowd in face of a shower of bricks.
