SYDNEY, March 7
The funeral ol the late John Brown at Newcastle- to-day was the largest ever seen there. Thousands lined the route. All classes ol men and women were gathered for the occasion. Six large ears werp loaded with flowers One wreath was from the deceased’s oldest friend. Sir Adrian Knox, Chief Justice of the High Court. The Miners’ Federation was represented by Mr I). Davies, the seiretary, and the Northern Collieries Association by Air O. McDonald, president. It. is not generally known that the late John Brown made repeated gilts of large sums of money during) Ids life time to charities and even to distressed miners’ families, always anonymously.
