The Minister- of Markets (Mr Maloney) announced the resignation ot Mr Haynes as Australian Trade representative in Canada, adding that the Government had offered the post to L. R McGregor (Director of Marketing in Queensland). So far Air MacGregor had not accepted.

Smashing the window ol a railway carriage and leaping to the rails, John King, n. prisoner who was being escorted to Tamwortli gaol, made a spectacular escape from his guard, when a train was travelling at about forty miles an hour near Tamwortli. The escorting constable attempted to stop King and burst through a glass partition door severely cutting his arm.
RAILWAYS FLOODED,
PERTH, March 6,
Over a hundred and fifty miles of railway between Port Augusta and Kalgoorlie is effected by wasliaways, which has caused dislocation of trains in Australian railways for days. Suspension of the service is likely. Near Forrest is a lake a mile long and in places the water is a foot over the lines.
