NARROW ESCAPE
FROM DEATH BY ELECTROCUTION. CAMBRIDGE, March 1. Herbert C. Oaten, aged 37, married, engineer to the Cambridge Power Board, had a narrow escape from being fatally electrocuted in the early hours of' this morning while working on alterations at Leamington sub-sta-tion. He was up a short ladder when his head came into contact with a 3000 volt line. Oaten was flung into the air, and fell on the concrete floor of the station unconscious. After a doctor had rendered first aid he was taken home. He did not regain complete consciousness until eight hours later. He sustained severe burns on the back of the head, and the fingers of his left hand were also slightly burnt. His back was injured by the fall. Under the circumstances he had a close call.
