There were twenty earthquake shocks in the Imperial Valley on Saturday with the epicentre at Bra why where business buildings were structurally damaged. There was one ser ious injury. DOCTORS ASKED TO' PROVIDE FOR ANATOMICAL SCHOOLS. LONDON, March 1. Doctor Richard Whittington, of Hove, in. a letter to “The Medical Journal,” declaring that it is time that doctors themselves should prevent a shortage of suitable material for anatomical schools by offering their own bodies, where the act would not offend the sentimental susceptibilities of those left behind.
He says: “If after that catastrophic event, death, the ego knows what is going on, is there anything 'unpleasant in ■ the thought of lighthearted students Ireing gathered round,”' He .says he is .not ■ advocating something that he is not prepared to do. Hence he has already offered his own body to= the. Oxford MedicalSchool. .. ... - FARMERS’ MEETING. LONDON, March 1. Ten thousand farmers and farm workers, representing twenty-fine counties, held a mass meeting at Cambridge. They passed a. resolution drawing the attention of the Government to the plight of agriculture, and to increase of unemployment therein and urging that measures be taken to assure the farmers of a remunerative price for their cereals, and thereby avert a calamity to their industry.

Doctor ‘.tohn ..Carliley the former President o>f tlie Baptist Union, who now is an offibuiting Chaplain in the Royal Air Force, has decided to ignore the Army Council order that tlie Chaplains should not offer prayers for the persecuted Russian Cli.rista.ins. Dr Carlile says: “I am a Chaplain, and I shall offer prayers on March 16tli. His Majesty.s Government can “ take my wings,” and do what they like with them. I am perfectly sure that there are hundreds of Chaplains who will take up that position... I most respectfully suggest that; the. Government immediately withdraw this order. It is a colossal blunder. It is an offence to England’s Free Churches.”
