W\LKER. BEATS AUSTRIAN CHAMPION. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 2. A special return professional heavyweight wrestling contest between George Walker (British Empire and Canadian Champion) and Fred Ebert (Austrian Champion) ended in a win for Walker in the fifth round. Walker applied the Boston “crab” and in his struggles 'before submission, Ebert tore the muscles in his back and was unable to continue. There was an angry scene in the ring, soon after the final round commenced. Ebert, who was frequently hooted for striking bis opponent complained to the referee that Walker was using the strangle hold. JChe referee, thought otherwise*
Thereupon Elvert pushed the referee violently against the ropes. Pandemonium reigned in the Town Hall building for a few seconds, and it looked as though the police were going to interfere but the bou.t proceeded after the referee administered a severe caution to Ebert.
