AYKROYD’S REMARKS
STRONG EXCEPTION TAKEN
(Australian Press Association)
SYDNEY,. Feb. 26
Romney, . marsli sheep breeders in New South’ Wales take strong exception to the remarks by Aykroyd, to the effect that Romney wool is inferior, and extolling Lsieesters. Experts here, deride the statement pointing out. that Romney is usually classed 46 to 50, while Lei esters are 40 to 46. Though it had not the same lustre, Romney wool was considerably finer and useful for lighter types of materials. Romney sheep thrive in wet weather better than any other breeds both here, where, it is growing in
favour, and in New Zealand. Any reversion to / type or . development oT coarseness was simply due to lack of care in breeding.'
