OFFICIAL WIRELESS

EXHIBITION OF ITALIAN ART.

PROPOSED EX TENSION

(Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Feh. 23. The Council of the Royal Academy will meet next week to consider the possibility of extending the period of the exhibition of Italian art, which is still attracting . immense crowds daily. Strong public representations have been made in favour of continuance beyond March Stli. which is the proposed closing day, and it is known that Signor Mussolini has sanctioned the extension of the period of loan until the end of March. There are many difficulties, however, as a considerable proportion of the pictures have been lent by private owners here and abroad. Arrangements for continuing the insurance of these priceless treasures would also be. necessary, and continuance of the exhibition would to some extent interfere with the plans for the Academy’s own summer exhibition.
