(Our Own Correspondent.) On Tuesday evening last the weekly cycle road race took place over a distance of five miles. The following competed; E. Mitchell scr., E. Hedwig 10*ecs, J. Johnston, F. Heveldt 20secs, A. Mitchell 30secs, W. Downing, J. Mason, P. Woods 35secs, P. Parker 40secs, E. Allan, C. Wilson 60secs. The bandit-uppers were responsible for a splendid finish. J. Mason beat A. Mitchell for first place by a wheel with P. Parker a length away third, a number of others following within several seconds. This js tlie fifth race for the gold medal, the points now being as follows:—.J. Mason, A. Mitchell, E. Mitchell 5 point seach, F. Heveldt, Johnston 4 points oacli, Howson 3 points, A. Hod wig 2 points, P. Woods and F. Parker 1 point. The final race for the imedal 'takes place on Tuesday next at 7 p.m. The annual flower show and sale of work in connection with, tlie Anglican Church takes place in the Tota.ra. Hall this (Saturday) afternoon and evening. The show promises to be well up to the usual standard, an energetic committee are working hard with the object of making the function a big success. SCHOOL EXCURSION. A vote taken at the two local schools to decide the locale for the school excursion resulted in Greymouth getting 89 per cent ol the votes, tlie exeurson will therefore lx* arranged to take place at Grey month at an early date, to he announced later. Secretary A. W. Peebles has been chrsen to represent the Ross Fire Brigade at the forthcoming conference to he held at Whangarei. Mr J. Houlahan. who has been absent from the district for several months, returned to Boss from Christchurch last Saturday evening.
