UNITED PARTY
CAUCUS OPENS. % —— (By Telegraph—Per Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, Feb. 21
The Caucus of the members of the United Party was held at Parliament House this morning, ft was presided over by the Deputy Leader of the Party, Hon G. W. Forbes, in absence of the Prime Minister, who is still under heal Hi treatment at Rotorua. All members of the Party were present, except Sir Joseph Ward; Air E. F. Healy, the' Member for Wairau (who is undergoing treatment at Helensviile following a breakdown in health), and Minister of Defence (the Hon. Air Cob he), who is at present on a visit to AY ©stern Samoa. The Caucus, was continued this afternoon, jal'tiifiMessrs H. R. Jenkins (Parnell), W j. J. ■Broadfoot (Country Party member for Waitomo) and Fletcher (Grey Lynn, Auckland) had withdrawn from.the meeting.
At the conclusion of a very satisfactory meeting of the United Party, during which the reorganisation of, the Party was discussed, and a basis for future operations was agreed upon, the following resolution was carried enthusiastically:— ,)'• '
“That this meeting of the United Party' desires to express its sympathy with Sir Joseph Ward in his indisposition, and to record its pleasure at his continued improvement in health, and its best wishes for his speedy recovery; further, it also desires to assure him. of its entire confidence in him as Prime Minister and ns Lender of the Party.’’
