Considerable, particular and general interest was displayed in the fourth wool sale of the Wellington season, fixed for to-day. Many of the wool growers have declined to. accept the current niiarket rates, and they did not send wool in, or they withdrew it from the sale. The utmost that tlie brokers were able to submit was slightly under io,ooo bales.
At two o'clock there was a large attendance of the public, but there were practically no buyers in the hall, and the sale had to be postponed.
BRITISH AVOOL FEDERATION
PROTEST AGAINST SALE
LONDON, Feb. 19.
The British Wool Federation replying to a cable message from the New Zealand Selling Brokers’ Association, says: “Regret that the growers are withholding offers. Confidence will not be restored by this action. SYDNEY SALE
SYDNEY, Feb. 20.
At tlie wool sales the offerings were 8502 bales, and 8072 were sold, also 1186 privately. Tt was a very active marked, with animated Japanese and Continental competition, and good support from Yorkshire. Prices continued tlie firming tendency at the best point oft lie week. Greasy merino made thirty peace.
