Replying to questions in the House of Commons regarding the alleged persecution of Christians in Russia, Mr A. ilendcrson stated that the Ambassador at Moscow was doing his best in inform himself of the facts, and he was awaiting the Ambassador’s reply. A despatch, on the subject already received from the Ambassador was only oi a preliminary character and he was not prepared to publish tliat. It was obvious that the value of diplomatic correspondence between the Government and His Majesty’s representatives abroad would be serio.uslyv.cpm-. promised, if the impression were created that despatches received from them must necessarily be published. The (lovernment were anxious to ascertain toe facts, and would welcome specinc evidence from any quarter.

Concerning allegations which had been made, Malcolm MacDonald, son oi tne Prime Minister, intervening during the questions, remarked that just a month ago, in the company of a thousand otflier people he had worshipped peacefully in the Cathedral of the Redeemer in Moscow.
