ASSISTED PASSAGES. (United Prew Association.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright, i LONDON, Eeb; 13. Hon Mr Fenton (Australian Minister of Customs) does not intend to hold a conference with British representatives regarding migration,, as, owing to the slowing down of the assisted passage system, he considers that no good purpose would be served by a discussion. New Zealand proposes not to resume assisting immigrants for twelve months, Mr-'Fenton says, and he sees no possibility of Australia doing so sooner. GETTING EVEN. LONDON, Feb. 14. The British Dominions Department has informed Australia House, London, that a vote of £15,000 yearly for free advertising throughout the nation, which was linked up with migration, will now probably be cut off.
