The Federal Director of Tropical Hygiene states New South Wales Ims made excellent progress in abating the hookworm disease.

It is understood that the questions which are to be submitted to the people in thei coming Constitutional referendum, will be as follows: First, for complete Federal powers. Second, for full industrial poweis. The Prime Minister. Mr J. H. Scullin, declines to comment on the matter until the Parliamentary'' Labour Party meets on March sth.
NAVAL OFFICER IN POLITICS,
MELBOURNE, Feb. 9
The Minister of Defence (Hon M. Green), states that he proposes to ask Rear Admiral Evans to submit the full text of his recent speech at Hobart, in which he is reported to have criticised the defences of the Commonwealth, having been “reduced to an absurd stage.” (STOCK EXCHANGE. BUSINESS.' SYDNEY, Feb. 10. The Stock Exchange investment market showed some activity, _ but prices are irregular. The influences which had affected the trend of prices during recent, days, remained. The predominant support continued to he transferred from Commonwealth loans which again tended to be easier, to favoured industrial stocks. Dalgety s rose os.
