The State Labour Party Conference has decided in favour of an immediate 44-hour week being made a plank of the Federal Labour platform. The motion also suggested that the State Act he amended to make it a penal offence to work more than 44 hours in one week. The Conference also passed a resolution advocating the total abolition of all forms of piece work, bonuses or payment by results, and urging an equal living wage for both sexes. The Federal Government was strongly criticised by some of the delegates for an alleged lack oi (.oarage in conne.tiun with the coal troubles.
